
Benjamin Miller
Benjamin Miller is a writer and an environmental policy consultant who
will be working with CIUS on issues of freight transportation and the
New York City waterfront. He is the author of
Fat of the Land: Garbage in New York, the Last Two Hundred Years
and of numerous articles related to infrastructural planning. Ben's
latest project is a book on the history and politics of New York�s
proposed cross-harbor rail freight tunnel. Ben has worked as the
director of policy planning for the NYC Department of Sanitation, and
as deputy director of the Mayor�s Office of Environmental Coordination.
He is a founder of Community Cartography, Inc., a GIS services firm,
and has held adjunct teaching and research positions at Columbia
University, Hunter College, and New York University.
